When a dog barks within the 50 foot range of the the PetSafe Outdoor Bark Control, the Outdoor Bark Control automatically gets to work. A built-in microphone picks up the sound and the unit releases an ultrasonic squeal. While 100% harmless but the noise startles and upsets a dog. The sound is in high pitched frequency so that only dogs can hear it; not humans. As the dog learns the sound is the consequence of barking, it will stop the bad behavior. The Petsafe Outdoor Bark Control unit will stops its alarm when the dog stops its barking. It has three different settings to control how sensitive the unit is to barking. It also has test mode setting.
I bought this because of one of my neighbor's loud yappy yorkshire terrier. They aren't taking responsibility in keeping her quiet. This baby works.
